Observation #7 - Essay Example They were discussing new trends in hairstyles and makeup. I could sense that they were very formal with each other, as their gestures were showing. Their language was also very formal. They greeted each other with â€Å"Good day!† and departed with â€Å"Have a nice day!† kind of statements. I heard the conversation closely, and I did not hear even one slang or abusive word. I guessed that they were meeting for the first time, and that is why there were being so formal. 3. I observed a male and a female in the school setting of my younger brother. The male was a child’s father, and the female was the teacher. The man was complaining about her child’s progress, and was blaming the teacher for not paying attention. I could hear phrases like â€Å"You people don’t care†¦Ã¢â‚¬ , and â€Å"Is this your system?† The teacher was being apologetic, and was convincing the man that they were not at fault. I could sense this as I heard phrases like â€Å"Look Sir!† and â€Å"With due respect†¦Ã¢â‚¬ etc. The man’s language was aggressive; while, the teacher’s language was

Compare and Contract 2 Documentaries Movie Review

Compare and Contract 2 Documentaries - Movie Review Example Just like the way love takes on connotation in distinction to unresponsiveness or disgust, and civilization takes on the meaning in distinction to barbarism or pandemonium, documentary assumes meaning quite the reverse to creative writing film or investigational and ultramodern film. People would afterwards merely have an imitation or duplicate of a thing that already subsisted. However, a documentary is never a duplicate of realism but a representation of the planet people presently occupy. It symbolizes a particular perspective of the planet; something people might never have come across prior to even if the characteristics of the planet that is symbolized is recognizable to the world's inhabitants. A reproduction is judged through its loyalty to the original its capability to resemble, act like, and provide the same principles as the original. People review a representation further by the temperament of the delight it provides, the worth of the insight or information it offers, an d the eminence of the course or temperament, tone or viewpoint it instills. Queries arise from a representation as opposed to that of a reproduction. Are documentaries an imitation of realism and are the tribulations they portray remotely less sensitive? If a Tree Falls is a tale of the Earth Liberation Front, (ELF), an astonishing documentary by the dazzling youthful directors Sam Cullman and Marshall Curry. This documentary searches the prosecution of associates of the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) for a succession of expensive flammable fires. The trailers and a number of imagery of the film makes a person get disturbed that it is going to be a one-sided delineation of ecological heroes going to limits. This documentary was certainly nothing of the sort. The knowledge of short listing of the film in the documentary section of the Academy Prizing made many people. People hope that the film makes the final selection, even though the antagonism, as always, is hard. It would be an ele ction for fearless examination of intricacy in a planet drawn to over abridged portrayals of events and tribulations, champions and villains. If one gets an opportunity to watch it, he or she is urged to do so. Presently, the film is watchable in the ‘instant or quick play’ approach on Netflix. Those residing in New York have an opportunity to watch the documentary at the IFC Center depicted as a component of the Stranger than Fiction. Mutually, the two directors and makers of the film will be present. The film is summed up and scrutinized nicely in an enlightening feature tale that occurred in The Times previously and currently this year (Crimes against Property, as Protests, C5). Fairly than appraising the details, one is urged to go through it. At its nucleus, the film discovers the ancestry of one environmentalist’s decree-violating passion, and of the firmness of the centralized antiterrorism rules that emanated out of the Oklahoma City terror campaign in th e year 1995 and then the horrific attacks of September 11 in the year 2001. It is viciously neutral, despite offering a cherished, above-the-shoulder vision of the key acknowledged arsonist, the mild-behavioral Daniel McGowan, as he trails his dispute against a long prison sentence. This type of impartiality is highly dissimilar than the â€Å"reasonable and balanced† Fox-style TV meme. Inside the Times commentary, Curry articulated this concerning the balance: the

To study the feasibility and profitability of establishing an Essay

To study the feasibility and profitability of establishing an international school in Mainland China - Essay Example Reed (l988) in her study of Education in the People's Republic of China and U.S underscored the importance of having international schools in China to cater for educational requirements of children of expatriate parents working in the country. Similarly, Fuldien (as cited in Hammond, 2007) demonstrated how the presence of English Schools Foundation (ESF) in Hong Kong has contributed to the education sector by providing high quality and cost-effective education through the use of English as the medium of instruction. This chapter presents review of the literature of studies done on the feasibility and profitability of establishing an international school in the emerging cities in Mainland China. The chapter is divided into various headings for easier presentation of the literature review. The Chinese education system is lauded as one having the longest history in the world. Available documented evidence indicates that the Chinese practice of education developed from the imperial civil examination system introduced in the early 7th century (as cited in Feagles, 1999). This type of examination system was devised exclusively as a mechanism for choosing and enlisting aspirants for the official system of government of the time and was found to identify only worthiness, competition and valor. Paver and Wang (1992) explain that this instrument was considered a powerful tool built upon social ambitions rather than individual concerns and therefore made examinations the only gauge for future success and achievement. This system has been found to strongly influence the education systems of Chinese communities to date, while still emphasizing the educational values highly esteemed by both parents and students (Paver and Wang, 1992). Reed (l988) in her study reported that the Chinese education system is found to be a mixture of two cultures namely the Chinese culture and the British culture. She maintains that the British culture is responsible for the establishment of elite schools. These elite schools are accordingly sponsored and managed by the major religious bodies such as the Roman Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, the Church of Christ in China and the Methodist Church (all cited in Reed, l988). Moreover, the regal social examination system laid down in the 7th century has inculcated certain values in the Chinese people which are seen to strongly influence the nature almost all the local schools and the elite schools in Hong Kong. Available studies further argue that this culture inculcated by the system have been responsible to produce all round students and graduates in the world (Kennedy, l977). The consequence of this argument is demonstrated in global comparisons of student achievements. Aanenson ( 1979) illustrates that Chinese students mainly from Hong Kong are always positioned amongst the top. Apart from fostering the spirit of hard-work and competitiveness, the Chinese tradition also underscores the importance of moral education which very much differs from the concept of morality as perceived in the Western countries (Reed, l988). The concept of moral education as recognized by the Chinese puts into account virtually all characteristics of education including but not exhaustively ethics,

In addition, the employees should not disclose information to anyone who has not signed a non-disclosure agreement with the company, failure to which the company will take legal action against the employee for breach of contract (Brewer 12). The sheriff should arrest B on drunk and disorderly charges (Brewer 23). Journal reflection (see instructions) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Journal reflection (see instructions) - Essay Example The class comprised twenty students. Out of twenty, only three has learning disabilities. Two of the students were facing problems concerning auditory and speech disability while one was unable to see because of blindness. I was reported about the problems the students with disabilities had such as understanding and comprehension of several words and sentences. I arranged a lesson by making a full-fledged curriculum. I also set a task for adaptations because according to my adaptations are quite helpful in accommodating students with required knowledge. As far as adaptations are concerned, they are advised to be designed at the beginning of instruction (Lenz and Schumaker, 2003). Therefore, I designed certain adaptations for students at the beginning. First of all, I divided my class into five groups of four students each. It is informed that students with LD (Learning Disabilities) are able to learn best when they are divided into groups (Vaughn, Bos and Schumm, 2004). The reason is that, their fellow students help them in learning. In my first class with the students, I helped them out in terms of understanding various words with the help of audiovisual aids such as pictures and speech. I informed them about various animals and showed them the pictures of animals. Initially, I spoke all the words with the pictures and then, I asked them to name the pictures. For the students with learning disabilities, I took help of assistive teaching devices. CD-based books are considered to be supportive in facilitating the students with learning disabilities. The books not only speak but also show the words along with speaking. The children with disability of speech and hearing were given support by means of the pictures and CD-based books that were indicating towards the words, that I was speaking. The blind girl was also facilitated because of the assistive devices because she was able to hear the words and then she was made to make use of embossed words, which
